Fashion search was broken. We fixed it.

Julie Bornstein, Lisa Yamner, and Maria Belousova

For all the sophistication the internet has brought to commerce, fashion search remained stubbornly unsolved. You could book a flight, find a doctor, or navigate a city in seconds — but try to locate a navy crew-neck cashmere sweater that wasn’t boxy, wasn’t overpriced, and was actually in stock in your size, and you’d find yourself forty-five minutes deep in a rabbit hole with nothing to show for it but browser fatigue.

That specific frustration belonged to Julie Bornstein, Daydream’s CEO, whose career spans leading e-commerce at Nordstrom, Sephora and Stitch Fix and who understood exactly why the infrastructure of fashion discovery failed to keep pace with how consumers actually shop. Lisa Yamner, our CBO, brought the same conviction from years at the intersection of fashion and technology at Google and Condé Nast. Maria Belousova, our CTO, joined with a vision for how to build what the other two had spent careers imagining — the technical architecture to finally make intelligent, personalized fashion discovery real.

The diagnosis they shared was precise: general-purpose search engines were built to retrieve information, not to understand the layered, contextual, highly personal nature of a style decision. What was needed wasn’t a better search bar but an entirely different model, one that could hold nuance, learn preferences, and respond to the way people actually think about their style. And exactly the right people to solve it.

The conversation you’ve always wanted to have.

Maxi dress for a Nantucket wedding in June. I’m thinking something bright with a fun print. And from Net-a-Porter so I can get it fast!

That’s how you think. And now on Daydream, that’s how you can shop.

Daydream is built around the way fashion decisions actually happen: with context, with nuance, with a hundred small requirements that no search bar has ever been able to hold. Tell us the occasion. The vibe. The non-negotiables. The absolute no-gos. The more you say, the better your results — until what you’re looking at feels less like search results and more like a stylist who gets you, pulled the rack themselves.

What Daydream actually does.

It searches smarter.

Across every major fashion brand and retailer, with AI that understands natural language. Ask it anything. Describe the thing you can’t quite name. Say “something like this, but make it more edgy NYC nighttime.” It can handle it.

It learns you.

Your Style Passport remembers the brands you love, what you save, the occasions you’re dressing for. Over time, your results don’t just improve — they start to feel like they were pulled specifically for you. Because they were.

It keeps going.

Shop from any screenshot. Discover new brands. Get alerted when the piece you’ve been watching finally goes on sale. Build collections. Tell us “more like this” to refine. Daydream will help you find the thing.

We launched with a lot. We’re building more.

Vogue

While generic AI agents can grasp that a trip to Mexico City might call for colorful or avant-garde clothing, Daydream goes a step further, translating that context into product recommendations tailored to the specifics of a destination, as well as the shopper’s personal style and price point.

Fashionista

An immersive shopping experience for fellow fashion lovers, they melded generative AI, a chat-based approach and a ‘sense of real fashion intelligence’ to create Daydream.

Fast Company

What sets Daydream apart from general-purpose chatbots is its foundation in fashion expertise. The company was built not just by technologists, but by fashion insiders with a clear point of view, allowing the AI to account for aesthetics, trends, and good taste — not just data.
